The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has launched a virtual public meeting to collect public input for two major planning efforts: the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and the State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP). The meeting is available online from Monday, June 2 through Monday, June 30, 2025, and can be accessed at modot.org/lrtp-sfrp.
Participants are invited to explore transportation trends, share feedback, and help shape Missouri’s transportation future for the next 25 years. The LRTP outlines goals for infrastructure investment, safety, mobility options, and economic development, while the SFRP addresses the state’s freight and passenger rail needs, supply chains, and economic impacts of ports and truck parking.
Public input is critical to the update process. The LRTP, last approved in 2018, and the SFRP, last updated in 2022, are required for Missouri to remain eligible for federal transportation funding.
Residents without internet access can participate by calling 573-751-6550 during business hours. All public comments must be received or postmarked by June 30, 2025.
Draft versions of both plans will be available for comment in early 2026, with final versions to be reviewed by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission later that year.
