The Mountain Home Board of Education held its regular meeting on July 17, with a focus on school operations, academic progress, and preparations for the new academic year.
Among the key presentations were financial and enrollment reports, facilities updates, and academic data, including Atlas Summative results and summer enrichment highlights. Nurse Ashley Looney was recognized for achieving National Board Certified School Nurse distinction, and Gerald Gaige of Baxter County Airport presented on STEM education initiatives.
Action items included the approval of bids for school supplies and food service, contract disclosures for 2024–2026, and a behavioral support contract. The board also adopted updates to policy section 7 and approved a new facility plan for submission.
During board discussion, Superintendent Dr. Jake Booth shared that he had been invited to speak on a local podcast about school facilities and urged board members to engage with the community on key issues.
Superintendent updates included staff preparations for the first day of school, scheduled for August 12. Key events include a drop-in session with Mrs. Dewey on August 1, professional development on August 4, and the board’s regular meeting on August 7. Mrs. Dewey also proposed rescheduling the October board meeting to October 14 to attend a reading demonstration with other superintendents.
