Mountain View Man Facing Drug and Weapon Charges

Gregory Allen Porter of Mountain View faces multiple felony charges after Howell County deputies discovered methamphetamine and firearms during a November 19 traffic stop on US 60.

Deputy Chancey Hambelton initiated the stop after observing Porter’s vehicle speeding and crossing the center line. Porter, the sole occupant, consented to a search, which revealed a plastic bag containing approximately 5.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine. A TruNarc test confirmed the substance as meth.

A loaded firearm was found in the truck’s center console. Porter, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms. A subsequent search of his residence yielded approximately 36 additional firearms and suspected narcotics. Items were located in an upstairs room identified by Porter’s wife, along with mail and documents linking Porter to the space.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, Porter is facing charges of:

  • Trafficking Drugs or Attempt – 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Class D Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – Dangerous Felon (Class C Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Methamphetamine (Class E Felony)

All evidence was seized and submitted to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
