National Child Safety Technician Course to be Held Later this Month

Local first responders, healthcare partners, and child‑safety advocates are inviting the public to take part in a four‑day National Child Passenger Safety Technician Course later this month. The certification training will be held March 24–27, 2026, at the West Plains Fire Department, located at 1901 Kissinger Street.

The course includes classroom instruction and hands‑on application, and attendees must be present for the full training and pass both written and practical exams. Organizers say the program provides 24 hours of Missouri POST credit for law enforcement officers. The registration fee is $95, though scholarships are available.

Participants must pre‑register before the first day of class. Registration is available through Safe Kids at cert.safekids.org by searching course ID MO 20250915877. For questions, Safe Kids can be reached at 1‑877‑366‑8154, and additional information is available from coordinator Kathy Zents at 816‑842‑5223.

Officials say the certification helps ensure more trained technicians are available to assist families with proper car‑seat installation and child‑passenger safety checks throughout the region.
