Update: Two fatalities after vehicle gets swept away in flood waters in Wright County

Update – 10:30 a.m. March 24: The body of the second individual has been recovered according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.


One person has been confirmed deceased, and the search is on for a person missing from a vehicle swept off Highway M in Wright County last night.

The incident occurred around midnight when a vehicle with six adults was swept off the roadway at a low water crossing near the intersection of Highway M and Orchard Road. Four of the six people in the vehicle were able to get out safely. The body of one was located and the search is underway. The identities of the individuals have not been released at this time.

This incident has been handled by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G search & rescue, and the Grovesprings Fire Department.
