One killed in two-vehicle accident Saturday

WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo. — One person was killed and two people were seriously injured Saturday after a two-vehicle accident in Texas County.

A Highway Patrol report states the accident happened around 6:14 am on Highway 137 about 6 miles north of Willow Springs, when the southbound Jeep driven by 26-year-old Tanner Beasley of Summersville crossed the center line and into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Jessica Messex of Willow Springs, causing Beasley’s vehicle to overturn in the roadway.

A passenger in Messex’s vehicle, 30-year-old Heath Wadkins of Mountain View, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were seriously injured and taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.

Highway Patrol officials say alcohol is believed to be the cause behind the wreck.

The fatality is the 41st of this year for Highway Patrol Troop G compared to 37 at this time last year.
