Ozark County Traffic Stop Leads to Chase and Arrest

Ozark County, Mo. – On Monday, January 17th at roughly 3:59, Sergeant Justin Brown made a traffic stop on Highway CC. The vehicle was stopped due to excessive speed and a traffic lane violation. During the stop, a firearm was in clear sight next to the driver. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and a pat down was conducted to check for additional weapons.

During the pat-down, an object was detected that the driver refused to identify. Due to this, Sergeant Brown called for backup and detained the driver. The driver then attempted to flee. The then suspect was apprehended but continued to resist arrest.

The suspect was secured and searched, revealing he had 5.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and the suspect was taken to the Ozark County Jail to await charges.

In assistance were the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, and an Ozark County Deputy.
