West Plains- The Heart of the Ozarks Pickleball Club and local and far-flung pickleball enthusiasts, gathered Saturday, March 28th for the inaugural Jack Lynn Memorial Pickleball Open, a heartfelt event that blended the love of the game with a mission of giving. The tournament successfully raised more than $1,500, with all proceeds benefiting the Bridges Program, an organization dedicated to providing essential resources to students in need across the region.
The event served as a tribute to the late Jack Lynn, a beloved member of the pickleball community, known for his generous spirit, and his passion for pickleball. The spirit of the day was made even more meaningful by the presence of Jack’s family; his son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Robyn Lynn, traveled from Texas to represent him and participate in the memorial event.
“This event was about more than just pickleball; it was about honoring Jack’s memory and his love for this game,” said event organizers. “By picking up a paddle to remember Jack, our participants helped build a bridge for students in need. He would have been incredibly proud of the community spirit on display.”
The success of the fundraiser was bolstered by a massive team effort from local volunteers and businesses. Mark Rhoades was instrumental to the event’s success, leading a beginners’ clinic for new players and contributing significantly to the prize giveaways. Additional prize donations were generously provided by Sugar Lily Bakery & Floral, Nadine’s Ice Cream, and Jennifer James.
The $1,500 total was achieved through the participation of local players and vital matching fund partnerships from Wags on Wheels and Aaron Bouchard.
The tournament was also supported by a dedicated group of Founding T-Shirt Sponsors, including:
- Burton Creek
- West Plains Greenhouses & Nursery
- Hospice Compassus
- CenterWell
- Brows & Beauty by Heather
- Southern Missouri ENT & Allergy
- Mega Motorsports
The funds raised will go directly to the Bridges Program, which serves as a lifeline for area youth by providing food, clothing, and hygiene products to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed in the classroom.
