Salem, MO. – Dent County Circuit Judge Michael Randazzo has issued his verdict on a death that happened over 2 years ago in 2020. The verdict was two life sentences on the grounds of 2nd Degree Murder, and Child Abuse leading to death.
Josie Abney, a 10-year-old girl from Salem, MO, collapsed in 2020; she weighed less than 35lbs at the time. She also appeared to have bruising across her body, and was dehydrated so badly that blood could not be drawn. The girl passed away at Salem Memorial District Hospital less than two hours after law enforcement responded to the initial call.
Randall Abney, the father, is facing the above 2 life sentences for the death. The mother, Susan Abney, is facing one sentence of life in prison as of October, after having pleaded guilty at the time of her trial.
