Samaritan Outreach Center running dangerously low on funds

WEST PLAINS, Mo. — The only homeless shelter serving West Plains and the surrounding areas has hit a critical level of funding and is once again coming to the community for support.

Lori Concepcion is the executive director of the Martha Vance Samaritan Outreach Center in West Plains. She says that it takes up to $12,000 per month to keep the doors open and the lights on each month at the 36-bed shelter that primarily runs on donations. However, she says the center currently has less than $1,000 in the bank:

She added that issues with some appliances and other items at the center has also contributed to the financial situation:

She says that while funding is low, the food pantry and soup kitchen at the center continues to be well-stocked thanks to a plea to the community several months ago:
