North Central Arkansas – The manhunt for escaped inmate Grant Hardin continues more than a week after he walked out of the North Central Unit in Calico Rock, Arkansas. Authorities have renewed calls to the public for assistance and released an updated photo showing a possible current appearance of the fugitive.
Hardin, 56, escaped the medium-security prison on Sunday, May 25, reportedly by impersonating a corrections officer and walking out through a secure gate. He was serving time for convictions of first-degree murder and rape. Since the escape, multiple law enforcement agencies—including the Arkansas Department of Corrections, the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and local departments—have been working tirelessly to track him down.
Despite exhaustive efforts in the rugged terrain of the north central Arkansas region, Hardin remains at large. Investigators continue to pursue leads and tips from the public.
In a move to encourage information that could lead to his arrest, the FBI and U.S. Marshals have increased the reward. A combined total of $25,000 is now being offered—up to $20,000 from the FBI and an additional $5,000 from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Authorities have released a possible updated photo of Hardin to reflect how he may look today and urge anyone who sees him not to approach. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information is urged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
