Sex Offender Registers in Gassville Following Move from Georgia

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public notification regarding the registration of a convicted sex offender who recently moved to the area from Macon, Georgia.

Kenneth Wayne George has been classified as a Level 2 offender, indicating a moderate risk to re-offend. Community notification is deemed justified at this level.

George was originally convicted of Statutory Rape in Barrow County, Georgia, on February 27, 2009, and served seven months of confinement. He has since been convicted multiple times for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, with offenses occurring in Cherokee, Dawson, and Lumpkin counties in Georgia between 2011 and 2013. These offenses resulted in a combination of probation and confinement sentences.

At this time, George is not wanted by law enforcement, and the Sheriff’s Office stresses that this notification is issued in the interest of public safety, not fear. Citizens are reminded that this information must not be used to harass, intimidate, or threaten registered offenders. Misuse of the information could jeopardize law enforcement’s ability to continue community notifications.
