From Shannon County Sheriff Steven Hogan:
On Friday, September 26, 2025, deputies and staff from the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office joined with multiple partnering agencies to participate in a docudrama mock motor vehicle accident at Liberty High School. The purpose of this demonstration was to highlight the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and driving.
The docudrama recreated a realistic accident scene, beginning with the initial call for service and continuing through the sequence of events that would likely occur in a real-life situation. By witnessing this process firsthand—from emergency response to the life-altering outcomes—students were given a powerful reminder of the serious risks associated with impaired and distracted driving.
Events like this have a lasting impact on high school students. Seeing their peers take on the roles of crash victims and responders makes the dangers of drinking and driving more personal and memorable than words alone ever could. These docudramas spark important conversations among students, families, and the community, helping to prevent future tragedies.
We extend our gratitude to all the agencies who contributed their time and resources to this event, to School Resource Officer Willbanks for his leadership, and to Liberty High School for hosting such an important program.
Out of respect for past victims and their families, many photos were not shared due to the graphic nature of the makeup and positioning of the student actors. While the demonstration was realistic, our goal is not to upset anyone but to educate and protect our youth.
