Eminence, MO. – The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday, October 10th that they will be increasing their vigilance around enforcement traffic laws surrounding school buses as a part of a Missouri campaign. Read the press release below.

Child Safety Priority

The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce its participation in the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety’s School Bus Stop-Arm Enforcement Campaign, taking place October 20–24, 2025, throughout Shannon County.

During this enforcement period, deputies will be focusing on identifying and addressing violations involving motorists who illegally pass stopped school buses — a dangerous and unacceptable behavior that puts children at risk.

The safety of our children is one of my top priorities. Every driver must do their part to keep our roads safe, especially around school buses. A moment of impatience can have life-changing consequences.

The Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant year-round for these violations, but this campaign provides an opportunity to remind drivers of the law and reinforce safe driving habits around school buses and in school zones.

The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office would also like to extend a special thank-you to School Resource Officer (SRO) Ashlock of the Summersville School District and SRO Willbanks of the Mountain View–Birch Tree School District for their continued dedication to student safety and community partnership.

Together, we can make Shannon County’s roads safer for our children.
