Show-Me Careers Educator Experience comes to West Plains

On October 15-16, local businesses will open their doors to teachers, counselors and administrators for Show-Me Careers – a hands-on learning experience that provides a deeper understanding of the skills students need to pursue in-demand careers.

The program is organized by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce, rootEd Missouri and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Educators will visit Missouri State University, Southern Missouri Technical Institute, the City of West Plains, Leonardo DRS, South Howell County Ambulance and Ozarks Healthcare.

The event is part of the statewide “Show-Me Careers” initiative, which is based on the belief that the best way to break down barriers between business and education is to bring influential educators, counselors and administrators into Missouri’s businesses. Through these experiences, education professionals gain a more robust understanding of the technical skills, behaviors and mindsets that students need to be successful in today’s professional environments, and they are able to help students graduate prepared for college, career training, apprenticeships or direct entry into the workforce.
