The program consists of 12 monthly sessions, beginning August 12, and meets at 6 p.m. on either the first or second Tuesday of each month, at the Ozark Regional Office located at 551 Joe Jones Blvd, West Plains.

Participants will explore simple yet beautiful embroidery techniques as they stitch quilt blocks featuring various Missouri species such as the Spotted Skunk, Alligator Snapping Turtle, Hellbender salamander, and Ozark Chinquapin tree. Each class focuses on a different species, providing insights into its history, habitat preferences, and ecological importance to the state.

All materials—including thread colors, fabric squares, block templates, and informational cards—are provided monthly. While the class welcomes new members if space allows, those who register are encouraged to attend all 12 sessions for the full experience.

Interested participants can register online at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/event/eventdetails/210159 or call the Ozark Regional Office at 417-256-7161 for assistance.

This unique program offers a hands-on way to engage with Missouri’s natural heritage while developing a new craft skill.
