A West Plains woman is facing a burglary charge after allegedly entering a residence and stealing cash while the homeowner was away.
According to police, officers responded to a burglary report on Oct. 29 at a home on the 1200 block of Webster Avenue. The victim reported that someone had entered through an unlocked back door and taken money, with several areas of the home rummaged through.
Surveillance footage led investigators to identify Tanya Miller as the suspect. She was taken into custody the following morning, Oct. 30, at 9:25 a.m.
After being read her Miranda rights, Miller reportedly admitted to entering the home, taking cash from an upstairs area, and later spending $150 at local stores and on gaming machines. She also stated she saw a change jar but chose not to take it.
