Swift Water Rescue in Carter County

A coordinated overnight rescue along the Current River brought a medical emergency to a safe conclusion in Carter County. According to Sheriff Alonzo Bradwell, a deputy responded in the early morning hours after a report of an individual in distress near the river. As the deputy arrived, the person entered the water, prompting a swift‑water rescue response.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, National Park Service, West Carter Ambulance, and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office searched both the river and its banks through heavy fog and high water. National Park Service swift‑water personnel ultimately located the individual in the river experiencing a medical crisis. They were removed from the water, transferred to waiting EMS crews, and transported for further care.
