Three more people charged in Baxter Co. Contraband Investigation

Mountain Home, AR – Three more people have now been charged in connection with the incident on September 12th whereby an attempt was made to introduce contraband into the Detention Center.

   Arrest warrants were issued for two current Baxter County inmates were already incarcerated on other charges unrelated to this incident.  These inmates are 22 year old HUNTER T. PEIFER and 26 year old BRIAN CALVERT.  Both of them were also charged with Furnishing Prohibited Articles and Conspiracy, both felony crimes.  An additional bond of $25,000 was imposed on each inmate as a result of these new charges, and they will appear before the Circuit Court to answer at a later time.

     Also charged was 20 year old DAVID ZACH PEIFER.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest for the same charges and with the same bond amount.  He has not yet been arrested and remains at large.  DAVID PEIFER was identified as the person who brought the contraband to the Detention Center and was behind the fence attempting to deliver it to inmates when the Jailer found it during a perimeter check.

     HUNTER PEIFER and DAVID ZACH PEIFER are the grandchildren of MARY WARD, who was previously arrested and charged in this case.
