At approximately 10:09 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Shannon County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle near Highway U and State Route M for crossing the center line and other lane violations. The driver, Ian Dawson, and passenger, Jake Walker, were both found to be on active probation.

Dawson consented to a vehicle search. During a weapons check, deputies located suspected methamphetamine in Walker’s pocket. He was detained, and a further search of the vehicle uncovered multiple controlled substances, including suspected Dilaudid pills, additional narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. Walker initially denied possessing the pills but later admitted they were his. He also tested positive for amphetamines.

Deputies also recovered a loaded black and silver 9mm pistol, a black rifle bag containing a Saber Defense 5.56 semi-automatic rifle, 10 magazines of 5.56 ammunition (243 rounds), and additional magazines for 10mm and .45 caliber ammunition. A second pistol with an obliterated serial number was found in another bag. Dawson admitted ownership of the firearms.

Both men were transported to the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office. All evidence will be submitted to the Missouri State Crime Lab for analysis.

Dawson and Walker are each charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)
  • Three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Subsection 11: Possessing a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance (Class E Felonies)

They are being held on a $175,000 cash-only bond, with conditions including electronic monitoring and weekly drug testing.
