Two Inmate Deaths Reports From South Central Correctional Facility in Licking

At 7:08 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, resident Arvin Garrett, DOC No. 33294, was
pronounced dead at South Central Correctional Center medical unit in Licking, Missouri.
Garrett was a 77-year-old resident serving a life sentence for one count of first-degree
murder from Newman County and one count of first-degree murder with life without
parole from Dunklin County. Garrett was received in the Missouri Department of
Corrections on Nov. 3, 1977.

At 11:35 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, resident Richard Floyd, DOC No. 1010142,
confined at South Central Correctional Center, was pronounced dead at Texas County
Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri.

Floyd was an 81-year-old resident serving life without parole for one count of first
degree murder from Greene County. Floyd was received in the Missouri Department of
Corrections on Oct. 8, 1998.

An autopsy will be conducted for each of the deceased.
