Two Prescribed Burns Planned for Mark Twain National Forest this Weekend

Douglas County, MO. – The U.S. Forest Service has announced two prescribed burns this weekend in the Mark Twain National Forest. The official announcement can be read below.


Two prescribed burns are planned for this weekend, if the weather cooperates:
🔹McClurg prescribed burn is planned for March 28, 2026, on the Mark Twain National Forest, weather permitting. This 2,134-acre burn will be conducted in Ozark County.
🔹The Copper Mountain prescribed burn is planned for March 29, 2026, on the Mark Twain National Forest, weather permitting. This 268-acre burn will be conducted in Madison County.

🔹Do not enter burn areas
🔹Expect smoke visibility in and around the burn
🔹Slow down near fire equipment and crews
🔹Smoke may be visible around the burn area and drivers should expect to see smoke.
