UPDATE: Fulton County Sheriff’s Department Press Release on Body Found

Fulton County, MO. – As a follow-up to the story about the body found in the Spring River in Fulton County, the Sheriff’s Department has released an official announcement of their investigation. It reads as follows:

“On April 19, 2022, at approximately 4:30pm, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a submerged vehicle at the Cold Springs access in Mammoth Spring. Deputies went to the scene and confirmed the report. The Mammoth Spring fire department brought a rescue boat and marked the location of the vehicle.

A diver was called to check the submerged vehicle. The diver confirmed there was a body inside. The vehicle was towed from the water, where investigator William Fawcett began to further investigate.

Chief Deputy Jake Smith contacted the Arkansas State Police and notified them of the situation. The ASP offered to assist with further investigation as needed. The body was taken by the Fulton County Coroner and submitted to the Medical Examiner’s office for positive identification and cause of death.

The vehicle was taken to the Fulton County Sheriff’s office for further investigation. Due to some anomalies, the case is being treat as a suspicious death, but foul play is not suspected at this time.”
