West Plains Downtown Revitalization has officially completed its participation in the Community Empowerment Grant program, a cost-sharing initiative facilitated by Missouri Main Street Connection, Inc. (MMSC) to support local economic development and revitalization efforts.
As part of the grant, MMSC provided $30,800 worth of training, mentoring, and technical services, with 60% of the cost covered by MMSC. Over the course of the program, MMSC staff engaged the community through a town hall meeting and surveys, working closely with local leaders to turn public input into actionable strategies aligned with the Main Street Approachâ„¢.
The goal of the Community Empowerment Grant is to help communities build sustainable, volunteer-led economic development organizations. West Plains, currently in the Affiliate Tier of the Missouri Main Street Tier Structure, continues to progress in its revitalization journey with hopes of advancing further.
Missouri Main Street Connection supports communities through preservation-based economic development. Since 2005, MMSC has worked with over 180 communities across the state, generating more than $1.42 billion in public and private investment.
