West Plains Juvenile Injured in Sunday Accident

A 17‑year‑old West Plains boy was moderately injured Sunday afternoon in a single‑vehicle crash on Highway 5, five miles north of Gainesville.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the southbound 2004 Chevrolet 2500 he was driving lost control of its trailer around 12:45 p.m. Troopers say the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, the driver overcorrected, then crossed the centerline before leaving the left side of the road and striking an embankment.

The juvenile driver, who was not wearing a safety device, was transported Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains with moderate injuries. His truck was towed from the scene at the owner’s request.

Troopers A.C. White and C.A. Edens, along with the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, assisted at the scene.
