A West Plains man was charged with 1st Degree Harassment and 1st Degree Stalking on Friday.
According to the Probable Cause Statement On March 7, 2025 the victim, reported that she had been receiving harassing, anonymous letters delivered through the U.S. Postal Service to her home at in West Plains, Howell County, Missouri.
The victim stated she had received 11 letters since November 2024. The letters were romantic in nature, asking her to go on dates, and one offered $150,000 to attend an event. She reported the letters were causing her emotional distress, and she worried she was being stalked in other ways.
During the investigation, Corby Redburn, a coworker of the victim, was identified as a suspect. She stated that Redburn approached her for a date in November 2024, but she turned him down, telling him she had a boyfriend. They had no contact after that. In a post-Miranda interview, Redburn confessed to sending the letters to the victim. Redburn stated he felt that he had a relationship with her, that she had broken up with him, and that the letters were an attempt to get her back.
Redburn confessed to sending a letter to the victim’s boyfriend, pretending to be her and telling him she wanted to break up. Redburn also admitted to tampering with her computer login at work to force her to contact him. Redburn further confessed to driving
by her house almost every day.
The investigation revealed that the victim and Redburn had never had a personal
relationship at any point, and Redburn had manufactured the belief they had been dating.
