The Willow Springs Fire Department is announcing major equipment upgrades made possible through a 50/50 Match Grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Conservation in November.
The department used the grant to purchase 14 sets of dual‑purpose wildland and extrication gear, 14 wildland helmets with goggles, 14 pairs of wildland gloves, 14 particulate‑blocking hoods, and four soft‑pack five‑gallon backpack brush pumps. All of the new equipment is now in service and has already been used on multiple calls.
Fire officials say the upgraded gear significantly improves firefighter safety, keeps the department compliant with current standards, and strengthens its ability to respond to brush fires and technical rescues.
In a statement, Willow Springs Fire thanked the Missouri Department of Conservation for investing in the safety of local firefighters and the community they serve.
