Douglas County Grand Jury Issues Drug, Firearm Charges Against Collins

A Douglas County grand jury has indicted Mackathion Scott Collins on multiple felony charges following a September investigation that authorities say involved LSD, methamphetamine, and a firearm.

According to court documents, Collins is charged with first degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also faces two misdemeanor counts for failure to register a motor vehicle and failure to maintain insurance.

Prosecutors allege Collins knowingly possessed more than one gram of LSD along with scales, baggies, and other items consistent with distribution while working in concert with another individual. During the same incident, Collins is accused of possessing methamphetamine and a .22 caliber rifle.

Collins is classified as a prior and persistent felony offender based on previous convictions from 2022, which allow for enhanced sentencing if he is found guilty.

Bond conditions include drug testing, a curfew, and a prohibition on possessing firearms or alcohol. The case is pending in Douglas County Circuit Court, Division II.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
