SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A Springfield man has been convicted of committing two murders within five days in 2018.

A jury found Willie Haughton, 26, guilty Thursday of two counts of first-degree murder for the killings of Lance Loveless, 30, and Robert Hewitt, 49. The two men were both found shot to death in their cars.

Prosecutors say Haughton killed Loveless on March 27, 2018, in order to steal his gun. He shot Hewitt five days later, possibly because he felt Hewitt had disrespected his friend, The Springfield News-Leader reports.

Authorities searched for Haughton for several days before finding him at a home in Greene County. He was located with help from his GPS tracking data, because Haughton was on bond in a different case at the time of the killings.

Haughton was also convicted of several other charges including robbery, armed criminal action and failure to appear.
