Alta was born August 10, 1954, to Alva and Dora Calhoun on March 6, 1981. She married the love of her life, Johnny Schofield and spent the rest of her life building a loving home for their three children and twelve grandchildren.

She was a proud mother who would do anything for her kids and a loving grandmother. When people would ask about her grandchildren, she would proudly tell them that she had a dozen, six and six, six boys and six girls. She always made a point to say it that way.

Her grandchildren were her happy place. She would do anything they wanted from cooking or cuddling with them to getting on the merry go round at the park. Even though she knew she would feel horribly sick afterwards.

She was an amazing woman who helped anyone she could in whatever way possible, which included letting family stay in her home when they needed somewhere safe. She was an amazing cook and would always have something cooking whether it was homemade bread or something sweet. She passed that on through her son Jason and granddaughter Robin.

She is survived by her loving husband Johnny of the home; three children John (Heather) of West Plains, Jason (Julie) of Noble, and Johnetta of Thornfield; twelve grandchildren Branetta, Robin, Lendon, Chase, Tyrone, Hurley, Brandon, Gannon, Oaklyn, Aubree, Savannah, and Karyme. She also had a bonus granddaughter Bella and her three loving brothers Ervin, Sherman, and Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Dora, and four brothers Lendon, Dean, Max, and Gary.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being taken at Clinkingbeard’s to help the family with costs.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
