Funeral services for Agnes Elizabeth Bracken, Age 65 of Ava, Missouri will be Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri with burial following in the Murray Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Jack Clemans.
Agnes Elizabeth Bracken, 65 years, 10 months, 23 days old, passed away on August 5, 2025, at Springfield Villa in Springfield, Missouri .
Agnes was born September 13, 1959, in Atlanta, Georgia to John Howard and Agnes Carson (Brown) Candler.
She was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended college at Ole Miss.
Agnes and Steven Gear were united in marriage in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982, and to this union they were blessed with a daughter, Rose. At this time they lived in Millstadt, Illinois. Later on they moved to Valmeyer, Illinois near St. Louis. Then, a few years later the family moved to Douglas County area. They loved the Ozarks and the Christian community. They especially loved the Assumption Abbey. They got acquainted with the monks and leadership there and became friends.
Agnes loved her coffee with 20 cents worth of whipped cream from McDonalds. She also loved historical fiction and her Bible study fellowship. She attended the Goodhope General Baptist Church.
On April 2, 2016, Agnes and Jimmie Bracken were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father; her first husband Steven Gear and her second husband Jimmie Bracken.
Agnes is survived by her daughter Rose Gear; her mother, Carson Elliott; two sisters, Leighton Candler and Brandon Tully; and her close friends.
