Daryel Milton Armour, age 90, passed away on May 21, 2024 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava, Missouri.
Daryel was born February 11, 1934 in his grandmother’s home in Keltner, Missouri. He spent his first ten years in Rocky Ford, Colorado then returned to Missouri where he would stay.
Daryel graduated from Ava High School in 1952. On March 23, 1953, he married his childhood sweetheart, Melverine Gray. To this union two sons were born. Daryel and Melverine remained happily married for sixty-one years.
Daryel was saved at the age of fourteen and remained a faithful Christian throughout his life, serving as deacon for many years and singing in the Mound Quartet.
Daryel served in the United States Army for two years and returned home to join his father in the country store. Daryel and his father, John, would run Armour’s Store for fifty years. Daryel served his community well, and he served on the Ava Ambulance Board as well as the Union Bank of Ava Board. He really enjoyed attending the Oldfield Opry and other musical events his son played at.
Daryel was a cattleman and loved the farm. He spent his life raising and growing cattle. When he was no longer able to get out, he would ask how the family was and how the cattle were nearly everyday.
Daryel was a devoted husband, loving father and Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be truly missed.
Daryel was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ocie Armour; loving wife, Melverine Armour; one son, Michael John Armour; and good friend, Betty Satterfield.
Daryel is survived by his son, Dwight Armour and his wife, Connie of Oldfield, Missouri; three granddaughters, Carissa Ledbetter, of Evansville,Indiana, Lindsay Evans, and her husband, Ethan of Oldfield,Missour, and Emily McIntosh and husband, Jacob, of Clever Missouri; great grandchildren, Carter Ledbetter, Molly Evans, Raylan Ledbetter, Merritt Evans, Alice McIntosh, and Michelle Evans; one nephew, Harold Gray, of Ozark, Missouri.
Funeral services for Daryel will be May 24, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Mound Baptist Church . Burial will be in the Hall Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Dowell, Jr. . Memorials may be made to Hall Cemetery.
