Cremation Services for Dennis Lee Painter, Age 72 of Ava, Missouri are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri per his request. The family will conduct a celebration of life at a later date.
Dennis Lee Painter, 72 years, 9 months, 2 days old, passed away on August 21, 2025, at his home with his wife, Martha by his side.
Dennis was born November 19, 1952, in Springfield, Missouri to Marvin Etcyl and Eva Louise (Baird) Painter.
He grew up in the Ava community and graduated from Ava High School in 1971.
On April 13, 1979, Dennis and Martha Dyana Holt were united in marriage at Second Baptist Church in Rogersville, Missouri and to this union two sons were born, Joshua David and Jonah Henry.
He was a retired Foreman from working at a garage door manufacturing company out of Kansas City, Kansas. He had also worked at Fasco in Ozark, Missouri.
He enjoyed his rides on his Harley, side by side, and dune buggy. He also loved to fish and stay at their lake house in Pontiac.
After leaving Ozark, he and Martha moved to Florida where he installed engines in Scarab racing boats. In the early 80’s, Dennis and Martha moved to California, then to Kansas where he got a machinist job at Don’s Automotive in Lawrence.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Joshua David and Jonah Henry Painter Sr.; two brothers, Lyndell “Dean” Painter and Connie Painter.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Martha; grandchildren, Jonah Henry Painter Jr., Noah Painter, and Gabriel Painter, a sister and husband, Carolyn and Jerry Scrivner, his sister-in-law, Evelyn Painter; and extended family and friends.
