Donald James Kapraun

Donald James Kapraun, 70 years, 11 months, 7 days old, passed away on February 11, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his family by his side.

Don was born March 4, 1951 in Bloomington, Illinois to Andrew and Patricia (Christ) Kapraun.

On September 11, 1992, Don and Jeannie Thatcher were united in marriage during the Ft. Madison Iowa Rodeo. They were blessed with three children, Brad, Angie, and Kaylee.

He was a self employed retired truck driver for Kapraun Trucking out of Metamora, IL. After retirement Don and Jeannie moved to Ava, MO to raise cattle and horses. He was an avid antique tractor puller. His pride and joy was his 830 John Deere tractor. Don received a national championship with the ATPA in his division. He also enjoyed spending time with his faithful companion, Sage, affectionately known as Miss America!

Don was a Christian. He and Jeannie attended the Cold Creek Cowboy Church in Ava.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald.

Don is survived by his wife, Jeannie; his children, Brad and Kim Kapraun, Angie Fauber (Mark), and Kaylee Kapraun (J.J.); grandchildren, Kaleb and Sara Barth, Kaden Barth (Kylie), Rylan Kapraun, Kayden Kapraun and Dylan Fauber.

Funeral services for Don will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Fair View Cemetery in Mansfield, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday evening Feb. 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor John Williams. Family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
