Edward Earl Button Jr. of St. Ann, Missouri passed away on his 69th birthday, July 9, 2022 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri.
“Buzz”, as he was affectionately known, was born in Binghamton, New York on July 9, 1953 to the late Alta Esther (Babcock) and Edward Earl Button Sr. He was the oldest of seven children. After graduating high school in Addison, New York in 1971 and moving to Pennsylvania, Buzz began working for Trans World Airlines and married his first wife Patricia, a union which bore two daughters. Eventually, that job brought him to St. Louis, Missouri, more specifically the city of St. Ann. There, he met his second wife Linda, whom he was married to until her untimely death in 2004. That union bore a son and a daughter.
Buzz lived in St. Ann the rest of his life and enjoyed calling it home.
Buzz was a friend to many and always offered a helping hand. After the death of his wife, he would shelter homeless people, giving them a place to live until they were able to sustainably support themselves. He also donated to many local and national charities. When he wasn’t working, you could find him poking around his garden, playing a game of horseshoes, grilling, bowling, or just relaxing outdoors.
He was a loving father and grandfather who was most proud of his children, grandchildren, and their accomplishments.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Linda, who died in 2004; a sister, Kathy Weiss, of Florida (2015); first wife Patricia, of Pennsylvania (2019); and a brother, Ethan, of New York (2020).
He is survived by his children and grandchildren: eldest daughter Monique Dodson, her husband Jason and their two children, Eurgenee and Murranda; Monette Button and her children, Siarra and Dylan; Edward Earl III and his wife, Deidre, and their four children: Serenity, Nevaeh, Acelyn, and Radley; and Elizabeth Klenke and her husband, Allan.
Also surviving him are a sister, Dawn Kunkel, of New York; brother Tim and his wife Angie, of New Hampshire; brother Glenn, of New York; and his youngest brother, Andrew, and his wife, Kristi, of New Hampshire; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Buzz will take place on Saturday, August 6 at 3 pm at Faith Community Church, 2969 N Lindbergh Blvd, St Ann, MO 63074. Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm that day. Interment will be at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd. (at Lindbergh), St. Ann, MO, 63074.
