J.D. Morrison

Jimmie Don (J.D.) Morrison, 88 years old, passed away on , March 26, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his family by his side.

J.D. was born in Springfield, Missouri January 2, 1934 to James and Jesse Morrison.  He graduated from Ava High School in 1952 and resided in Ava most of his adult life.

On May 29, 1953, J. D. and Betty (Johnson) were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born.  J.D. and Betty were married for 57 years before her death in 2010.

J.D. retired after a long career with Shelter Insurance. His second career was selling real estate.  He was a member of  First Southern Baptist Church of Ava and served as a Deacon for many years.  He enjoyed serving the Ava community for many years as a member of the Ava Lion’s Club.  J.D. was passionate about playing music and singing. He enjoyed all kinds of sports.  He was a member of the Ava Country Club and enjoyed playing golf.  He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He announced the Ava High School Boys football games for 22 years and served as the High School Booster Club President.

J.D. married Vonda Bain in 2013.  He gained two step sons and their wives and many step grandchildren.

J.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morrison; sisters, Thelma Posey and Ernestine Myers.

He is survived by his wife Vonda; two daughters, Connie Joy Gideon and Jemi Lynne Dixon and her husband Marvin; three grandchildren, Jessica, Cale, his wife, Danielle, Haylee; great granddaughter, Ava; three step grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua and Caleb; six step great grandchildren, Brady, Hank, Annabelle, Ellie, Jack, and Caroline; two sisters, Betty Satterfield and Chloe Wolford; brother, Larry Morrison and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for J.D. will be at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava, Missouri Wednesday, March 30 at 10:00 A.M.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel.  Burial will be in the Hall Cemetery.  Officiating will be Rev. Nolan Carrier and Pastor Oren Alcorn.  Memorials may be made to Hall Cemetery or American Lung Association.
