James Weston Howard

The Howard family announces with great sadness the death of James Weston Howard, a long-time resident of Howell County.  He passed away early Sunday morning the 17th of October, at the age of 87 years.  He was born on May 27, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, where he lived until moving to Howell County in the 1960s.

James will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Buddy Paul Howard (Wanda) of Willow Springs, MO, Stanley James Howard of Mountain View, MO, Becky Ellazada Howard Ferguson (Mark) of Hernando, MS, and LaVita Ann Howard Deming of Johns Island, SC.

James was respected and loved by his five grandchildren, Jeff Howard (Jodie) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Tina Fellers (Ronnie) of Flemington, MO, Matt Howard (Ashley) of West Plains, MO, Jennifer Mills (Kyle) of Omaha, NE, and James Ferguson (Chelsey) of Guntersville, AL; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

James was predeceased by his wife, Ollie Belle (Weaver) Howard; his parents, James Asa and Ella Nora Howard; two brothers, Johnny Howard and Larry Howard; and his one sister, Donna (Howard) Ridder.

He loved to drink his coffee and eat all the desserts his wife used to bake for him (especially her homemade chocolate pie).  He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music at the Pickin Parlor, and he worked many years at the Mountain View Hospital and enjoyed talking to everyone he met.

James was a devoted husband and loving father and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, with Bro. Nolan Wilkins officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri.
