She had a special way of making people feel seen, heard, and cared for, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion.

Although she never had children of her own, Kyla had several beloved fur babies over the years that she loved immensely. She was also deeply involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.

Kyla was a dedicated and hardworking woman who owned her own cleaning company Two Rags and a Cleaner for over two decades. She took great pride in her work and was known for her strong work ethic and leadership. She provided opportunities to friends, family, and those in need, and was not only a great boss but someone people could count on.

In 2008, Kyla married Tommy, the love of her life and her partner of 20 years. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and unwavering devotion to Jesus. Their relationship was a true reflection of their shared love for the Lord—walking side by side in faith, supporting one another through every season, and serving others together.

As her faith grew, Kyla answered her calling and later in life went back to school, becoming an ordained minister. She fully stepped into her purpose, dedicating her life to serving others and sharing the love of God. Kyla started Out of the Shadows Ministry in Seymour, Missouri, beginning in her brother Kelly’s home before there was ever a church building. From those humble beginnings, she built a ministry that brought people together in faith, love, and hope, and later helped create the Seymour Jesus Fest.Following her calling even further, Kyla traveled to Africa on three mission trips, where she helped build homes, shared the word of God in prisons and women’s homes, and poured love into communities in need. Closer to home, she served the homeless in Springfield, Missouri, helping provide food and support to those who needed it most. She opened her own home for Bible studies, creating a place where people could come as they were and grow in faith together. She shared her testimony in prisons and outreaches, speaking to both women and men who were struggling with addiction, offering hope and showing them a different path forward. She also led baptisms in the river in Seymour, helping guide so many in their walk with God. Missouri was her home, where she built her life and poured into her community. Her church, Out of the Shadows Ministry in Seymour, Missouri, remained a place where her faith shined brightly.

She fought her battle with cancer with incredible courage and grace. Even in her hardest moments, she continued to show strength, faith, and love to those around her.

Kyla is survived by her husband, Tommy; her mother, Zetta Carol Linder Mullanack, and her stepfather, Bob of Seymour, Missouri; her father, Martin Maurice Ellison, and stepmother, Jackie Ellison of Durant, Iowa; her siblings: Joyce and Cody Ice of Houston, Missouri; Troy Ellison of Houston, Missouri; Shawanna and Jesse Hanson of Diggins, Missouri; Regina Cox of Houston, Missouri; Rhonda and Scott Sanders of Durant, Iowa; Marty and Karol Ellison of Canton, Illinois; and Tracey and Gene Keppy of Durant, Iowa; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will truly miss her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”.   – Galatians 2:20
