Laura Lee Rohlfs, 76, of Gainesville, MO passed away February 22, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born July 26, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Walter John and Leatrice (Cady) Shimkus.
On October 9, 1982 Laura was united in marriage Steven Rohlfs in Bloomingdale, IL. Laura was a selfless person, who took pride her her family. She would give her family everything she had, even if she didn’t have much. She loved crafting with her friends, and playing board games with her grandchildren. Laura and Steve had a special kind of love, one that can’t be described unless you’ve seen it in person. She was the best person you could hope to have in your life, and you knew you were blessed if you got the chance to love her or be loved by her.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, of the home; one daughter, Annette Montes; her grandchildren, Nicole Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Mikaela Szekely, Rachel Kearley, Hannah Hughes; her siblings, Elaine Eaton, Michael Shimkus, Jim Shimkus and wife Colleen, Ruth Kelley and husband Bob; her 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leatrice June Shimkus; and one son Michael Montes Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10 am to service time. Burial will be in the Howards Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Howards Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
