Norma Yvonne Lewis, 79, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away peacefully at 1:09 a.m. on June 10, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was born on December 26, 1945, in Missouri, to Emmett Jack and Helen (Nicholson) Rosenburg. Norma grew up in southern Missouri and attended Turkey Oak, Montier, and Birch Tree schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Jack and Helen (Nichloson) Rosenburg; brother, Rusty Rosenburg; infant sister, Barbara Joyce; grandson, Richard Bates; and three great-grandchildren, Chad Metcalf, Shilar Edmonds, and baby, Rylan Barylski.
Norma married the love of her life, Jerry Lewis, on April 1, 1962. They were just 16 and 17 years old—young, in love, and ready to take on the world together. They often joked that their marriage was the longest-running April Fool’s joke ever. Throughout their life together, they raised five children, Tamsen, Terry, Helen, Trina, and Glen.
Norma’s life was built around caring for others. She worked many jobs throughout her life, but the common thread in every role was her generosity and compassion. Whether she was helping patients, supporting children, or showing up for someone who had no one else, Norma gave freely. She often spent what little she had to buy gifts for those in her care, especially for those without families of their own. Her heart was expansive, and she gave without expecting anything in return.
She carried that same spirit into her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Norma loved her grandchildren and passed down more than stories, she passed down a legacy of selflessness, strength, and quiet devotion.
Until her health began to decline she loved to sew and do embroidery. However, she most enjoyed singing in church. She loved the Lord with her whole heart.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lewis of Mountain View, MO; her five children, Tamsen (Jerry) Atnip of Mountain View, MO, Terry (Laurie) Lewis of Afton MO, Helen (John) Moore of Mountain View, MO, Trina Lewis of Mountain View, MO, and Glen (Julie) Lewis of Birch Tree MO; her brother, Dean (Diane) Rosenburg of Holt, MO; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
