Pamela J. Causey passed away peacefully on April 1,2026 in West Plains, Missouri. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and was a devoted native to the city and its beaches. Even after she moved to Missouri her heart always belonged to her hometown area. She cherished the gentle waves and sunlit shores that were her sanctuary throughout most of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and compassion.

Pamela’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She found endless joy in walking along the beach, experiencing new adventures, traveling, snow skiing, scuba diving, and immersing herself in the pages of a good book. Her zest for life was evident to all who knew her, inspiring friends and family to embrace every moment.

She married the love of her life, Robert Causey, with whom she shared many happy years. They had one son, Marcus, two years before Robert tragically passed in a scuba diving accident. Pamela was left to raise her son alone during those early years and this created a special bond between them. Later, Pamela found companionship and love with Paul Wittten, sharing twenty-five wonderful years of marriage. In her later years, she was blessed with a loving marriage with Arthur Hurwitz, who brought warmth and joy to her life.

Pamela was a dedicated, skilled nurse who took pride in the treatment she provided for countless patients. She had great empathy for those under her care and was a champion of patient’s rights. As a result, she often had a lasting impact on those for whom she cared. Her son joined her in the medical field, and this gave them many opportunities to discuss various event and aspects of their careers.

One of Pamela’s most unforgettable adventures was her journey to Rome and a visit to the Vatican with her dear friend Sally Hutchinson. During this special visit they became attached to group of children that were being ushered to a special event. Unbeknownst to Pam and Sally they were about to receive a blessing from Pope John Paul II. This blessing was an experience Pamela cherished and held close to her heart.

Pamela is survived by her son, Dr. Marcus Causey, his wife, Jonna, and their two sons, Kaden & Evan Causey. She is also remembered fondly by extended family and a host of friends who will miss her bright smile and generous spirit.

Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Causey, her brother Kenneth Passmore, her sister Patsy Akins, her nephew Gregory Passmore, her niece Pam Noble, and her last husband, Arthur Hurwitz.

Pamela J. Causey will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, adventurous soul, and unwavering love for those around her. During her life Pamela experienced a lot of traumatic loss which helped to form her feelings surrounding her own passing. She expressed that she did not desire to have a funeral and her family is honoring that wish. Instead, her family hopes that you will take a few moments to remember all the good times, the laughter and love you shared with her.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cedarhurst Walk to End Alzheimer’s Fund of West Plains, Missouri. This will serve to honor Pamela’s memory and her commitment to caring for others.
