On December 2, 1978, Randy and Catherine “Cathy” Sue Thompson were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri, and they were blessed with two daughters, Karen and Melissa.

Randy began working at an early age of 14 years old. He worked at Emerson Electric and also at Hutchens Steel out of Mansfield, Missouri. He and Cathy later started their dairy farm. They worked hard on the farm but enjoyed being able to provide for the family.

He loved fishing, hunting, and telling stories about his hunting adventures. He was creative and enjoyed making fishing lures. As the grandkids came along, he enjoyed telling them those hunting and fishing stories. It was important to tell his grandchildren to do right and make good choices.

During his illness, Randy never complained and never wanted to be a burden. He was a servant and never lost his humor. Randy adored his family, and he will be greatly missed.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; his in-laws, Leo and Kay Thompson; three brothers, Mike, Bill, and Joe Tate.

Randy is survived by  his wife, Cathy; his daughters and their spouses, Karen and Jacob Tidwell and Melissa and Jeffory Searcy; five grandchildren, Shiloh Searcy, Hailey Searcy, Brody Tidwell, Tyson Tidwell, and Lane Searcy; three great grandchildren, Nova, Dawson, and Wrenley; his brothers, Ralph Overcast, Rick Tate, and Herman “Kelly” Tate; his best dogs, LB and Happy Jack Tate.

Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri, per Randy’s request. A private family celebration will be at a later date and time.
