Regina Diane Wheeler

Visitation for Regina Diane Wheeler, Age 76 of Doniphan, Missouri will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 12, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Brothers Elijah Allen and Larry Bashaw will be officiating, and burial will be in Hunt-White Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the College of the Ozarks where Regina met and married her husband, Francis while they were earning their college degrees.

Regina lived a full and vibrant life, marked by a deep love for sports and nature. As an educator, she taught in both Missouri and Arkansas. Her passion for athletics continued beyond the classroom. Regina was a proud participant in the Senior Olympics at Poplar Bluff, was an avid golfer, and for many years she was a standout softball player in the Doniphan summer sports leagues. Her competitive spirit and team camaraderie made her a respected and admired person in the local sports community. When she was not on the field or in the classroom, Regina found joy in traveling, especially on cruises, nurturing her flower garden, and cherishing her grandbabies and time spent with them. Faith was an essential part of Regina’s life. She was a member of the Doniphan Church of God, where she faithfully attended.

 

On November 15, 1969, Regina married Francis Wheeler at Point Lookout, MO. He survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Louis) Norwood of Jonesboro, AR and Julie (Sam) Boothe of Doniphan; grandchildren, Maddox Wheeler of Poplar Bluff, MO, Aspen Wheeler of Doniphan, Xander Norwood and Gunner Norwood, both of Jonesboro; and many beloved relatives and special friends.

In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by a half-sister, Rosemary Bryer, and brother, Melvin Rance Chailland.
