Robert James Maddox

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James Maddox, 65, of Houston, MO, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in his home.

He was born on August 20, 1958, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Dwight W. Maddox and Naomi C. (Clark) Maddox.

Robert enlisted in active-duty military as a Basic Marine Rifleman in 1977 and was discharged in 1993. While enlisted, he received the Rifle Marksman Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.

Robert (Robby) was a beloved handyman and a jack of all trades, known for his universal skills in all areas of construction/repair work. He enjoyed working with his hands, working on his truck, and remodeling. Robert was experienced in a number of job facets such as construction, pest control, sous chef, milk hauler, and several home businesses including beekeeping and pig farming. Some of his hobbies included fishing, spending time with his cats and visiting/spending his days with his mother, his best friend. Robby was an avid animal lover, and he had a fondness for his cats and loved them dearly. He will be missed by many and forever loved.

He is survived by his five children, Jennifer Scheets; Josh Maddox and wife, Jennifer; Nikeeta Gebbie and husband, Aaron; Christina Maddox and Blain Housley, all of Houston, MO; MiNaya McConnell and husband, Kenny of Cabool, MO. Four brothers, Ronald Maddox and wife, Mary Pat of Valley Falls, KS; Daryl Maddox of Pittsboro, NC; Roger Lasster of Oregon; and Fred Lasster, of Kincaid, KS; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi C. Maddox and father, Dwight W. Maddox; nephew, Kenny Daryl Maddox; and a granddaughter, Addyson Kay Stickel; as well as grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

A private family celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
