A celebration of life service was held for Ronald L. Campbell, Age 94 of West Plains, Missouri will be held at The His Place House of Worship, West Plans, Missouri on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025.
Ronald Lee Campbell, age 94 years, 9 months and 30 days, was born in Detroit, Michigan & died with his wife by his side on August 9, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1930, during the Great Depression. He and his parents moved back to Missouri for a short time, then went to California. The came back to Missouri where he started school in a rural schoolhouse. He grew up on the farm south of Mtn. View, Mo, and was a farm hand for his father. He loved working with his hands and once took apart a clock to see how it worked and put it back together.
He graduated from High School in 1949 and went on to Mo-Ark College in West Plains, Mo, for one year. After that he enlisted in the US Air Force & served two different times and was honorably discharged during the Korean conflict. After serving his country he had many jobs in various cities. He was in St. Louis during the Arch’s construction.
At an early age he gave his heart to his savior Jesus at Little Zion Baptist Church in Trask, Mo.
In 1967 while working at Smith Flooring in Mtn. View, Mo. met his future wife, Alberta or Bertie, at the skating rink. On March 1, 1968, at Little Zion Baptist Church, they were married and started a family.
In the Fall of 1967 Ron started a new career as a truckdriver, which he did until 1993 to support his family.
To this union of marriage four children were born: Lee Ronald, Randall William (Shelia), Ronna Lesa (Jason) Fouquette, Andrew Lloyd (Angela).
He is survived by his grandchildren, the joy of his life: Amber, Preston Morrow, Meghan, Ryan, Bishop, Koby, Gabe, & Drew; two greatgrandchildren, Elijah & Jonah. He is also survived by his brother Wes & Sharyn Campbell & family, sister Sue & Craig Loughridge & family, in laws Robert & Rose Devine & family, Herbert & Karma Devin & family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Dora Riley Campbell; in-law’s Nelson & Fern Wolfe Devine & beloved sister Delores who passed in 1940.
He was a pilot & avid model train collector & builder. He loved flying and railroading & knew planes when one went over. He also owned motorcycles and enjoyed working on them when needed.
While truck driving, he earned several safe driving awards including one million miles accident free. He retired from truck driving in 1993. He then got his license to be a computer tech and worked for Computers & More and retired in 2017.
He never knew a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa & great grandpa.
He will be missed!! Rest My love, until we meet again, Berti.
