Ruth Ann McFarland, 79-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, May 26, 2025. She was born October 5, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late Ole Richard and Martha (Scott) Gowen.
Ruth Ann led a life marked by quiet strength, devotion, and service. She was a skilled custom drape maker, known for her attention to detail and creativity. She was also a steadfast and faithful military wife, supporting her husband throughout his 22-year career in the United States Army. After his retirement from the military, she continued her role as a supportive and loyal partner during his 17 years in law enforcement. Ruth Ann’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first and dedicating herself to raising her son. Later in life, she also babysat Matheny Baucom. Ruth Ann enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and living out her faith as a longtime member of the Church of Christ. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Ruth Ann’s legacy is one of loyalty, love, and grace.
On January 4, 1964, Ruth Ann married Orville McFarland in Poplar Bluff, MO. He survives. Also surviving is her son, Lloyd Glenn (Elaine) McFarland of Lawrenceburg, TN.
In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her siblings which include a sister, Vida Mae Gowen, and brothers, Bobby, Raymond, Leroy, and Jamie Gowen.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Visitation will be held at the Doniphan Church of Christ on Saturday, May 31, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 11:00 a.m. Gary Crockett and Junior Baucom will be officiating.
