Velma Louise Hood, 77, was born October 12, 1946, to Jefferson Franklin and Wanda Nadine (Crouch) Kentner. She was wed to Ralph Edward Hood on March 6, 1964. She went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2024.
Velma was a born-again child of God, and she lived the love that comes from the True Spring of Love, God. Grandma, as most of us know her by, loved her family so, so much. There is no telling how many people are born-again Christians because of her influence on their lives. Over the years, Grandma taught Sunday School classes, VBS, and Church Camps, and touched so many children’s lives in such a Godly way.
A servant’s heart at its best. Grandma, all the way to the end of her beautiful life, put others first. What a wonderful Christian woman she was.
She is survived by her husband of the home, Ralph Edward Hood, Sr.; her four children, Teresa Michelle Kimbell and husband Mark, Kristen Lynn Gausepohl, Ralph Edward Hood, Jr. and wife Darla, and Eric Jason Hood; her grandchildren, Justin Kimbell, Nathan Kimbell, Jessica Savage and husband Chris, Caitlin Kimbell, Taylor Davis and husband Drew, Dalton Gausepohl, Brandon Hood, Brooke Hood, Abby Stanley
and husband Chris, Alex Hood, and Anna Hood; her great-grandchildren, Ryder, Janessa, Makayla, Braunson, Daizy, Ender, Isley, Adrienne, Madelyn, Benjamin, and Jiraiya; her four siblings, Frances Baldwin, Roger Kentner, Carmen Daniels, and Melody Coffee; and a host of other family and friends that will miss her greatly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, and three brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Hutton Valley, Missouri, with Pastor Ralph Edward Hood, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. also at the church. Interment will be in Hutton Valley Cemetery, Hutton Valley, Missouri.
