The St. Louis Cardinals blew a late lead during a 5-4, ten-inning loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Busch Stadium. Ivan Herrera hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, but Ryan Helsley surrendered a game-tying home run in the next half-inning. Phil Maton gave up a go-ahead double to Alejandro Kirk in the tenth and was charged with the loss in relief.
Helsley, who had 49 saves last year and only four blown saves, has had five blown saves this season and three in a row to start the month of June.
St. Louis is in second place in the NL Central at 36-and-30. The Cardinals send Miles Mikolas to the mound against the Jays tonight.
