The Cardinals claimed their series over the Brewers following a 5-1 victory from St. Louis. Matthew Liberatore earned the win after giving up the lone run on five hits over five innings. Ivan Herrera blasted a two-run homer as St. Louis has won three of five.
Manager Oli Marmol came out of the dugout before the first pitch to remove third baseman Nolan Arenado to give him a send off in front of the home fans in what appears to be Arenado’s final season with the Cardinals.
Arenado is wrapping up his fifth season with St. Louis and he has hit .266 with 116 homers in 703 games with the Redbirds.
The Cardinals are in fourth place in the NL Central at 76-80. Michael McGreevy starts for St. Louis against San Francisco tonight.
