Cardinals and Royals final scores

Royals left-hander Noah Cameron took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his major league debut and Vinnie Pasquantino homered as Kansas City blanked the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Cameron, who grew up in St. Joseph, shut out the Rays over 6 1/3 innings until Curtis Mead ended an 0-for-16 slump with a one-out single. Cameron (1-0) allowed one hit and five walks while striking out three. He threw 79 pitches with 46 strikes.

Bobby Witt Jr extended his hitting streak to 21 games.

 

Willson Contreras hit a three-run homer in the first inning of the second game, Pedro Pagés added a solo shot and the St. Louis Cardinals swept a day-night doubleheader from the Cincinnati Reds 6-0 and 9-1 on Wednesday.

Victor Scott II, Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn hit consecutive home runs in the ninth inning, with Winn going deep for the second time in the first game.

Reds RHP Hunter Greene (3-2, 2.70) will oppose Cardinals LHP Matthew Liberatore (2-2, 3.19) in the series finale on Thursday.
